Laura Alvarez
The Real Queen
From Medellín to Melbourne
She arrived in Australia with no friends, no family, and no English. What she had was something stronger — an unbreakable passion for music that had been burning since she was four years old, and the courage to follow it wherever it led.
Laura Tatiana Alvarez Cortes is one of the most complete artists to emerge from the Australian Latin music scene. Singer, dancer, actress, and model — she brings a rare combination of raw talent and lived experience to everything she creates. Born in Medellín and forged by resilience, her story is not just about music. It is about what happens when someone refuses to give up on who they truly are.
Her sound fuses reggaeton, afrobeats, dancehall, and Latin pop into something that carries the vibrant energy of Colombia's streets and the multicultural pulse of modern Australia. Every performance is a statement. Every song is a message.
Born in Medellín
Laura's story begins in Medellín — a city of colour, music, and fire. By the age of four she was already performing, showing a natural gift that her family recognised immediately. Dance classes, piano lessons, school bands, church musicals, festivals — Laura absorbed every opportunity with the hunger of someone who already knew where she was headed.
Her grandmother was her greatest champion, pushing her toward dance competitions and helping her discover the full extent of what she was capable of. Creativity ran deep in the family, and Laura grew up surrounded by people who understood that her gift was something worth fighting for.
Resilience Forged Her
At 17, Laura's life changed when she lost her mother. Rather than stepping back, she stepped forward. She pursued a professional dance career to support her family, dancing alongside top Colombian artists and honing a stage presence that was entirely her own. She earned a degree in finance administration without ever losing sight of who she truly was.
That combination — discipline, sacrifice, and an unbreakable creative drive — became the foundation of everything that came next.
"My primary goal is to share a powerful message with the world about love, success, and the importance of hard work in achieving your dreams. As a woman, I want to inspire girls everywhere to dream big and be fearless in pursuing their ambitions."
A New Chapter — Australia
The move to Australia was the boldest decision of her life. Laura arrived alone — no support network, no language, no roadmap. She spent six months learning English, then completed a business diploma, an advanced diploma in leadership and management, and began an MBA at Torrens University.
By every conventional measure, she was building a successful professional life. But through struggles with depression, physical illness, and anxiety, Laura made the decision that would define her: she chose music. In 2023, she enrolled at JMC Academy in Melbourne to formally study her craft. Since then, she has performed at prominent Latin events across the city, opened for established Latin American artists, and continued building a presence that is impossible to ignore.
In the Studio — Rey Records
The studio is where Laura is most herself. At Rey Records in Melbourne, every session is an act of intention — focused, powerful, and completely in command of her craft. She practices daily, pushing her artistry further with every take, working toward the best version of herself and her music.
The Music — Love, Energy & Power
Laura's music is built on three pillars: Love, Music, and Energy. Her sound blends reggaeton, afrobeats, dancehall, and Latin pop into something fresh, powerful, and deeply personal. Each release carries the weight of her journey — and the joy of someone finally living exactly the life they were meant to live.
Live Sessions
Every performance is a statement. Every song is a message. Laura on stage is an experience — raw, magnetic, and completely alive.
